 GOOD NEWS CHOIR LAUNCHED IT’S SECOND ALBUM “CLOSER TO YOU MY LORD”.

On 29^th of April 2017, the Good News Choir launched its second album and celebrating its twentieth anniversary.  The event that took place in the University of Rwanda, Huye campus’ Main Auditorium.

 Towards 7pm the Good concert was about to start and good people were arriving at the main auditorium preparing themselves for the event, and the guests from different places were arriving to the same place as well. Meanwhile there was a good band, which was playing gospel songs to the audience waiting for the concert to start, the band helped in setting the spiritual mood in the audience.

     As different guests and GNC members had already arrived the concert started with charismatic prayer led by Good News Choir members invoking the Holy Spirit to come and fill that place. And indeed God has been there for us throughout the concert, we couldn’t have done much IF God was not our side. Following the prayer, came the MCs Mr. TWAHIRWA Prudence and GATEKA Brunelle Aeris, who introduced the Good News Choir current President IRADUKUNDA Patrick.

In his speech, GNC president reflected on thanking God for all that we have been able to achieve as Good News Choir in this twenty years of existence, acknowledging the help, advice and prayers from different Christians, priests, parents and others. He added on that this is a good time to look back from where we started, how we overcame different obstacles as GNC and it is also a good time to plan ahead for the future and continuity of Good News Choir. He also pointed out the reason to why we were gathered there, “apart from celebrating our twenty years of existence, we were launching our second album closer to you my Lord’’ he said. He went on welcoming different guest who were there; priests, sisters, GNFs, Leaders on different levels, friends and families… he added on that it’s a day that we all have been waiting so it was necessary that we should be happy and enjoy the concert.

You could read happiness in everyone’s eyes, but with the surprising, amazing, interesting, enjoyable and professional entrance of Good News Choir everyone stared with admiration. In a good dress and trained voices, Good performed their first scene which was made of comforting song like; it is well, soonah will be done, you raised me up, Good tidings, and Eyefula. All those songs left people really wanting more, the concert already was to its peak of expectations.

After the speech of CCCCE president, which mainly emphasized on thanking the GOOD NEWS CHOIR for its service in preaching the Gospel through songs and helping the Christian Community of the University parish Saint Dominic and also highlighting that we share a lot as students who are Christian came the performances of the two choirs from saint Dominic parish, Chorale La Fraternite and Illuminatio choir respectively, the performance of these choirs was amazing.

After the performance of the choirs, came the time we can call ‘’GNF Time’’, the time where Good News Family members gave us a view on their life in the choir. GNF is currently led by Dr Amendezo Etienne who started thanking the GOOD NEWS CHOIR from its amazing improvement compared to how the choir was from the beginning and then continued to introduce different GNF members who were there, respective of the time they were in the choir.

There came different GNF member who gave us different testimonies on how they enjoyed their life in the choir and highlighted on some specialties of GNC as the first choir to start English mass celebration Rwanda, the Choir to ever sing song with beats which was different from the usual Gregorian music of the time, the choir that started with 6 members and now has about 200 member, they told us about how they started different English communities and choir around Rwanda, which are now strong and active. They said that generally it wasn’t easy in the beginning, but now the fruits are so good and they thanked God and everyone who helped along the way, and emphasized that we should keep the Good work on.

there came the second scene of GNC, which was mainly comprised with song that are our second album ‘’ CLOSER TO YOU MY LORD’’, like ain’t got time to die, worthy, closer to you, am gonna sing till the spirit move in my heart, and Yezu uri umwami w’abami!  

GOOD PEOPLE WHO HELPED IN SELLING CDs.

This scene was directly followed by selling the CD Album of Closer to you my Lord; the first CD was sold to one of the founders and the current principal of UR Huye Campus Dr KAYIHURA MUGANGA Didas. A big number of CDs were sold but also there was CD honor given to Father KIYENJE Denis the priest in charge of the Parish. In his speech Father Denis that Good News Choir has done a lot in these twenty years down the road of preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The concert continued with an amazing performance from our Burundians girls from Good News Choir, it was so wonderful.

GOOD NEWS ON THE THIRD SCENE

After that came the spectacular performance of chorale le Bon Berger. After this, the concert was heading to its end. Lastly the Father’s blessing and the fourth scene concluded the concert.

Good news choir would like to take this opportunity to recognize all the efforts, ideas , prayers and skills of everyone to make this concert be of a great success. we thank everyone who considered our invitation and hence came to the concert, we thank the choirs that were with us in the concert, and different Christians and UR huye campus students who supported us. above all we  thank God who has been by our side all along this 20 years of His service.
